Algeria, which chairs the Arab Group at the UN for the month of May, called on Monday, together with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), for a meeting of the UN General Assembly to discuss the latest developments on the Palestinian scene.

"As Chairman of the Arab Group, the Permanent Delegate of Algeria to the United Nations, Ambassador Sofiane Mimouni has, together with his brother, the Permanent Delegate of Niger to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdou Abarry, Chairman of the OIC Group, delivered a letter to the President of the General Assembly calling for the holding of a meeting to discuss the latest developments in Palestine," tweeted the Permanent Mission of Algeria to the UN in New York.

The Zionist occupation forces have intensified their attacks against the inhabitants of El Quds, the West Bank and the Ghaza Strip following the rejection by the Palestinians of the decision of the occupation entity on the eviction of residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in favor of settlers.

The attacks did not spare the worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque premises.

The death toll from the Zionist aggression against Ghaza and the West Bank has risen to 218 martyrs and more than 5,600 wounded, announced the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
