Algeria has "firmly" condemned, Sunday, the terrorist attack that killed nearly 160 people in Burkina Faso, expressing its solidarity with the government and people of Burkina Faso, said a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated against the inhabitants of the village of Solhan, in the north of the Republic of Burkina Faso, causing more than a hundred victims among civilians, including women and children," the statement said.
"Faced with this tragic ordeal, Algeria expresses its full solidarity with the government and people of Burkina Faso, and reiterates its unwavering commitment to support international and regional efforts to eradicate the scourge of terrorism, whose spread within the Sahel-Saharan area seriously threatens the stability, security and development of countries in the region," said the MFA.
The death toll from attacks carried out on Friday night by armed men in the village of Solhan, in northeastern Burkina Faso, rose to 160 on Sunday, according to local sources.
These attacks were committed in the so-called "three borders" area between Burkina, Mali and Niger, regularly targeted by deadly assaults by terrorists, linked to the terrorist groups Al-Qaeda and the self-proclaimed terrorist organization (Daesh).
